This certification is for fitness professionals who struggle with feeling as if they do not know how to best help their clients who are trauma survivors. Become one of the first fully certified Trauma Informed Fitness Professionals.
This certification teaches fitness professionals everything they need to know about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), how to recognize it's signs and symptoms, how PTSD impacts their clients, and the most effective ways to support clients with PTSD in a gym setting.
For the past 10 years, I have owned my own private psychotherapy practice where I specialize in working with trauma survivors. I have been teaching course on sexual violence and trauma at local colleges and universities in my area for over 12 years. I have helped hundreds of trauma survivors heal and become more grounded so they could live more fulfilling and healthy lives.
Outside of the psychotherapy office, I have a personal love and passion for lifting weights. Lifting heavy things up off the floor has made me feel empowered, emotionally grounded, and physically strong. It was through this journey that I began to think about how powerful movement, fitness, and lifting weights can be, especially for women. I started to think about how transformative it could be for many of my clients who are survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and trauma.
I started talking to my clients about movement and lifting.
Most were scared that trainers "wouldn't understand them and their trauma" Many of my clients stated that going to a traditional gym is "intimidating and scary" They feared that trainers wouldn't understand their specific needs especially surrounding their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. They were terrified that they could become triggered during a workout and feared that their trainer would not know how to help them.
This is why I created this certification.
Survivors need to know that there are safe fitness professionals out there. That there are fitness professionals that understand their specific needs. That there are fitness professionals that know the best ways to support their physical and emotional needs.
